Siliconized Sealant

What is Siliconized Sealant?

“Siliconized mastic” (silicone acrylic mastic) is a single-component joint filler and sealant based on acrylic dispersion and enriched with silicone emulsion additive. It provides continuous flexibility, adapting to structural movements.

Properties of Siliconized Sealant

  • High elasticity: It retains its flexible structure even after drying and is resistant to cracking.
  • Water-based & solvent-free: An odorless, environmentally and user-friendly formula.
  • Paintable: After curing, it can be coated with both water-based and synthetic paints.
  • Wide temperature tolerance: Provides performance at service temperatures from -20°C to +70°C.
  • Surface compatibility: Provides strong adhesion to porous and profiled surfaces such as concrete, brick, wood, and aluminum.
  • Ultraviolet and anti-aging: Resistant to UV rays and weather conditions.

Application Areas of Siliconized Sealant

Siliconized sealant is preferred in many areas of the construction chemicals industry:

  1. Window and door joints: Used to seal gaps in PVC, aluminum, or wooden frames.
  2. Wall and ceiling cracks: A reliable solution for sealing construction cracks with filler.
  3. Prefabricated and facade panels: Provides an elastic connection at the joints of composite panels.
  4. Plastering and interior renovations: Used to improve joint filling and surface adhesion before painting.

Tips for Applying Siliconized Sealant

  • The surface to be coated must be clean, dry, and dust-free. Adhesion may be weakened on dirty surfaces.
  • Applying masking tape to the edges of the joints will result in a neater appearance.
  • After applying the mastic, gently smooth it with your finger or a spatula to create a smooth surface.
  • Don't rush the painting; waiting for it to dry completely will give you a better result.
  • In areas with intense water contact, pure silicone or PU sealant can be preferred over siliconized sealant.
  • It is recommended to ensure that the room temperature does not get too low during application.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've answered your frequently asked questions about silicone sealant.

After cleaning the surface, the appropriate amount is applied to the grout using a cartridge gun. Then, the surface is smoothed with a damp finger or spatula. Leaving the surface untouched for a certain period after application yields better results.

Siliconized sealant offers strong resistance to moisture and water. It is an effective solution for sealing areas that come into contact with water, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and exterior walls.

Depending on the ambient temperature, surface drying occurs quickly. For optimal performance, it is recommended to wait a certain amount of time depending on the applied thickness. Maintaining surface stability during this process is important.

Once dry, siliconized sealant is compatible with most water-based paints. With proper surface preparation, a smooth coating is formed, and the application area gains an aesthetic appearance.

Siliconized sealant provides high flexibility for doors, windows, wooden surfaces, ceramic edges, and moving joints. It is a reliable choice for crack filling, insulation, and installation applications both indoors and outdoors.
